Best Blog Post…EVER

A few days ago, I came up with a brilliant idea for a blog post.  It was going to be amazing!  The concept was fresh and unique, and I knew I could sell it with a humorous spin.  Between going to the gym and getting dinner ready, I plotted out the entire concept in my head, smiling at my genius and patting myself on the back for coming up with something so incredible.  It was going to make you laugh and smile, causing you to share it with all of your friends, who in turn would share it with their friends, and so on and so on and so on.  This was the blog post that was going to put me on the map!

An hour later…I couldn’t remember any of it.

Dammit.

Seriously?  Am I getting SO old that I can’t remember the best blogging idea I’ve ever had?  Perhaps the blood rushing from my head during my extensive circuit training or the strong smell of red onions caramelizing in the skillet forced it out of my brain and into the invisible unknown.  Either way, it’s been absolutely killing me that I can’t remember.  In fact, I’ve been wracking my brain for the past few days just trying to recall even a tiny portion of the idea that inspired me in the first place.  Alas, I got nothin’.

Then I began to wonder – if my idea was so brilliant, would I really have forgotten it?  Maybe my so-called “great idea” wasn’t so great after all.   Was there a plot afoot by my subconscious to sabotage my blog in order to keep me from embarrassing myself publicly?  Perhaps the entire concept was complete crap and my inner critic was screaming, “No way in hell are you posting that!”

But, in all honesty, I think it was just simply a matter of not writing down my ideas when they came to me in the first place.  Completely my fault.  Lesson learned.  You’d think I would know by now that my memory isn’t what it once was.  Some days, I’m lucky if I remember my kids’ names. I mean, how many times has someone asked you for your phone number and (because for a split second your brain shuts down) you end up dialing it into the air with your finger?  Don’t deny it.  We’ve all done it.

Wait.  I just realized that this is a blog post about not being able to write a blog post because I couldn’t remember the original idea for a blog.  Huh…guess the point is moot now.
